Welcome! Presenting a vintage North American soapstone or serpentine stone bear carving or sculpture, featuring a young, nimble bear exploring a tree trunk and extracting honey to eat. This is a great little sculpture measuring 5 inches high to the tip of the ear, about 4 inches front to back and about 2 5/8 inches side to side at the base. It weighs about 1 pound and 13 ounces, and the color of the stone is various shades and streaks of brown with some gray. The shape of the bear is nicely articulated including facial and claw details. And the artist has captured both the concentration and enjoyment in the task by the bear. There are some scattered white dots and dings to the stone, otherwise very this sculpture or carving is in good solid condition with no chips or cracks.
